A vivid-orange prototype controller paired with a cancelled home console, this artifact survives as the only physical evidence of a short-lived 1990s project. Collectors prize it for its bold colorway and the glimpse it offers into an alternate path for console design.
The unit consists of a single molded controller in saturated safety orange, featuring an analog stick, four face buttons, and shoulder triggers. No matching console body is known to exist; the controller was intended to connect via a proprietary serial link to a compact, cartridge-based motherboard that remained on the drawing board.
No commercial games were produced. Internal documents reference two tech demos—an isometric racing prototype and a simple platformer—both running on an unreleased development kit. The absence of released software makes every surviving element of the project scarce.
Rediscovered in a 2013 warehouse clearance, the controller has become a touchstone for historians of vaporware hardware. Its striking hue and unfinished state encapsulate the risks and ambitions of the era’s console race.
