Watch lists for retro buys (not financial advice)
2026-09-09
A watch list is a shortlist of titles you care about, not a prophecy. Live prices move. Sometimes that means a better buy window. Sometimes it means nothing except that a few auctions printed weird last week.
This is not financial advice. Retro games are a hobby first. Money you need for rent does not belong in a sealed EarthBound fantasy.
What I put on a watch list
Gaps in a set I am actually finishing. Games I will play. A console variant I keep almost buying. Not every title that spiked on social media.
Noise vs a real signal
Pair the number with patience: check condition, shipping, and whether the listing is the variant you think it is. Today’s movers on the Index can show which catalog titles jumped; that is context, not an order ticket.

Log what you own for free. Put titles you care about on Watching. Membership adds watch-list email, automatic daily price updates, and bulk reprice so you are not refreshing the dashboard all day. The collection stays yours either way.
Build the shelf list first — start free — and only then decide if alerts would help or just distract you.
