Free retro collection trackers

2026-09-09

Search “free retro collection tracker” usually means one thing: a pile of games, zero interest in a subscription just to name them. Logging the shelf should be free. Live prices and alerts are nice. They should not be the door fee.

I built RetroStronghold for that. A few other tools people actually use are below. I am not going to trash them to win a comparison chart.

RetroStronghold

Browser app. Unlimited games, consoles, and manuals on a free account. Check live loose, CIB, and sealed prices on the copies you own — see checking prices on RetroStronghold. Price lookups and the total value of your collection are free too. Membership is $6.99/month for automatic daily price updates, value charts, bulk reprice, watch-list email, and value reports. The collection itself never goes behind a paywall. Public profiles and the Index are already there.

I use this when I want one shelf I can open on a desk, not only on a phone.

Gameye

Phone-first with barcode scan and a social feed. Strong if you catalog from the couch. Weaker if you want a desktop inventory, condition on the same row, and a public URL you can send someone.

CLZ Games

Desktop and mobile database with a deep title list. People who treat inventory like a job like it. Free unlimited logging is not the pitch; prices are a separate concern from “what is on my shelf in the browser.”

A spreadsheet

Still fine for weird custom columns. Still bad for covers, live prices, and showing the shelf to anyone else. Useful as an export target — which is why RetroStronghold can dump the catalog.

What I care about

Free unlimited logging. Live prices on the copies I own. A public profile when I want one. Membership when I want those prices kept current automatically, plus charts and alerts. No wall on the way in: browse the Index, then start free.
